Due to essays, dissertations and general life stresses I have been eating much more than I want to, and slowly, but surely my portion sizes have definitely crept up.
I am still struggling slightly as well with this new found allergy of mine and last week I even went out in search of vegan wine as I am becoming so sensitive it seems. Anyway, yesterday I decided I would photograph (iPhone) everything I ate and do a “My day on a plate” style post, slightly inspired from the weekend magazine; Stella.
To start with: Breakfast
I am a stickler for brekkie, and I hate missing out on it, no matter how much I consumed the night before.
I really do think it is important to enjoy some sort of breakfast first thing, as it also means later on in the day you won’t be fooled into snacking on the excuse that you “haven’t eaten all day”.
Afternoon snack:
I love to drink my green tea throughout the day, especially during the winter months when it is so cold and grey. It really warms me up and green tea is also exceptionally healthy for you.
I also like having a small snack with my tea, and I had some delicious seedless, purple grapes from M&S which were delicious.
Mmm, something sweet and healthy as a quick pick me up. Remember, I don’t really do “cooking”.
Plus, they are fun to eat …
I always manage to get the juice all over my fingers!
Next up: Afternoon Tea, tea
This is special afternoon green tea, which we usually enjoy every afternoon at around 4 pm accompanying an episode of Charmed.
Tea of this month is China Yellow Buds ! Very delicate and utterly delicious. Being special afternoon tea we use our fine bone china mugs and teapot. (It makes the tea taste better.)
Mmm, lovely
You may remember a few POSTS ago that I like to have a special quark with flaxseed mixture, as recommended by the Budwig Centre, however I found that my body wasn’t able to break it down very effectively.
Thus, I now use my freshly ground flaxseed in a different way, sprinkled over steamed apple and pear.
It just an adaptation from this quick little recipe and tastes like a pear – apple crumble, delicious at 4pm!
Evening nibbles:
After watching my two episodes of Charmed it is obviously time for a nibble and a drinky! I had some champagne left over from the other day, which was a perfect partner to some organic almonds.
I love munching on almonds, although I sometimes get a tummy ache if I eat them on an empty stomach. The fizz soon soothes that though.
Supper time:
Instead of doing my usual steamed veg, I made a quick fresh tomato garlic sauce with fresh spinach leaves on top to cook slightly topped with al dente asparagus and a side salad of course!
This was drizzled with some delicious olive oil (my new food obsession) and sea salt granules sprinkled on top.
I love fresh asparagus with nothing but olive oil and salt crystals, It reminds me of Julia Roberts in “Eat Pray Love” when she is in Italy and enjoys that for breakfast. Sometimes simple is best, and thank God, as I just don’t cook!!
Remember that scene?
It was one of my favourites from the film as it looked just so romantic and also delicious with the steaming hot asparagus.
Obviously mine wasn’t breakfast and was my supper so a glass (‘a’ – more like a few) of wine was enjoyed by candlelight.
It was quite interesting photographing everything I ate, as I became more aware of what I was enjoying and spending a few moments longer appreciating it.
What was first of just some inspiration for a post, turned into quite a useful little exercise!

wow, amazing pictures, what do you take these with, they’re awesome.
